Husband & Wife Team: Kate & Andy Spade

We interrupt our regularly scheduled broadcast...    I feel like saying that after two SOLID weeks of product sneak peeks!  But, anyway.  While we work on perfecting the new online shop (there's so much to do!), let's talk about something different.  Just for a sec. 

So, have you seen the new Matchbook Magazine?  Those Matchbook girls have got it going on.  I mean it!  They're really paving their own way in this world of digital magazines.  Creating their own niche, and I love it.  Their current issue is full of interesting articles, fashion tips, and gift guides.  But, my favorite feature was the interview with husband and wife team, Kate & Andy Spade.  As someone who works with their spouse, I'm always fascinated by other couples that make it work.  It's really an interesting dynamic, and Kate & Andy Spade are true entrepreneurs.

Of course, their home is stunning.  And, their story is just as interesting.  Did you know that they met in college?  Or, that they started the company with no money at all?  Kate & Andy took pride in the fact that they only hired people that were talented and nice.  And once you joined the Kate Space team, you were given a copy of Emily Post's Etiquette.  It's sort of fascinating, isn't it?

I'm also obsessed with the upholstery on this bench.  I'm stealing this idea.

So, the next time you hear from me, I'll be announcing the OPENING of our new store.  Can you believe it?  I can't.

Cover Girl

The newest issue of Matchbook Magazine is on virtual newsstands now, and the cover is just stunning.  I love the simplicity of this cover design.  It's so inspirational (in my humble opinion). The color, the dress, the simple and minimal text.  Gucci glasses, bouffant hair, and an overwhelming nod to 1960s style.  The subject of this marvelous portrait is Joy Venturini Bianchi.  She runs a vintage couture shop that benefits disabled adults in the San Francisco area.  And at age 72, Bianchi believes that "clothes are about good manners."  Isn't that a refreshing thought?

Doesn't it seem that the newest trend in women's fashion is actually a throw back to 1960s style?  Let the heavens rejoice.  We're moving away from women dressing like men, and going back to women dressing like women.  I love it.  Structured, sexy dresses with conservative cuts and modern silhouettes.  Trenchcoats, ballet flats, cigarette pants, and even lady-like blouses.  Reminiscent of fashion icons Audrey Hepburn, Grace Kelly, and Jacqueline Kennedy.

I love a good tailored dress and I'm thrilled to see some of my favorite shops are carrying these retro styles.

Thank You, Matchbook!

I want to give a huge thank you to Katie Armour, Jane Lilly Warren, and Rachel McGinn for including me in the newest issue of Matchbook Magazine.  A few weeks ago, we headed over to Blum's Antiques in Chestnut Hill, shopped the phenomenal merchandise and talked about antiquing!  It was a lovely afternoon. 

The new issue was released yesterday and it was such a thrill to see the article in it's entirety.  Rachel McGinn is a fabulous photographer too...

Thank you again, ladies.  It was such fun to be included in the new issue!

Matchbook Magazine!

The premier issue of Matchbook Magazine was released last week, have you seen it yet?  This online lifestyle magazine--"a fieldguide to a charmed life"--was created by Katie Amour (of The Neo-Traditionalist) and Jane Lilly Warren (of Lox Papers).   It's full of inspiring tidbits-- from "50 classics for your closet" to easy gourmet recipes.  The first issue of Matchbook does not disappoint!


I enjoyed seeing a glimpse into Mr. Boddington's studio...  they have the most beautiful cards and stationery.

And of course, I took note of this article: "50 Classics For Your Closet" (in terms of fashion, I need all the help I can get)...

I'll take the Burberry trench and the Louis bag, please.

So far, I only have about 5 out of the 50 recommended classics. 

Looks like I have a lot of shopping to do  ;)

And of course, I loved Miles Redd's contribution: "10 Secrets To A Charmed Life"...
