Of course, the famous foodie that works in this gorgeous space is none other than Ina Garten, the one and only Barefoot Contessa and otherwise food genius. Ina always keeps the focus on the food, and the people that you share the food with... she's non-intimidating and friendly. Oh, and everything she makes is completely divine. But, enough about Ina. Let's get back to the design of her incredible East Hampton barn/guest house/office/kitchen work space.
Robert Stilin worked with Ina to create a one-of-a-kind space that was steeped in Belgian influences. He combined textured linens, natural woods, and a monochromatic color scheme to create a space that was laid back, yet completely refined. When House Beautiful asked Ina to describe the new space, she called it "earthy and elegant." I think that combination is exactly what makes this place so special... that, and the 18 foot long countertop!

Robert's professional website is also chock-full of fabulous images. I love how each space feels clean, comfortable, and ultimately functional... but he does it in such a modern way. To me, this is the epitome of classic Hamptons style.

I'm a long time admirer of his. That is some serious talent. He has an uncanny, effortless ability to mix modern and traditional and create a unified, perfectly simple + beautiful aesthetic.
I remember reading (and swooning) over that House Beautiful feature. So gorgeousl!

Great collection of inspiring photos - thank you for culling them for us! Could curl right up in any of those rooms.
you're right...truly classic design. My favorite image is the pair of striped chairs! I love the little bits of midcentury sprinkled here & there. Happy weekend.

I can't get over the hardware on the console (picture 12). Any idea where to find something similar? Thanks for the beautiful pictures.
so cool, love these images and his style.
Great post! And, yes his interiors exude the Hamptons easy summer living feeling.
I think I have clippings of every one of Ina's residences (Hamptons, NY, Paris, etc.) in my inspiration binder--love her style immensely. So grateful you included a link to Robert's site. I can't wait to peruse!
Robert Stilin is a man of genius and I absolutely adore Ina's kitchen, in fact used this as an example to describe the elements and principles of the visual language of interior design in my first assignment for my diploma. All his spaces are just breath-taking. Love your blog thanks for sharing these lovely images.
