Spring Tease

Thank you Previous Homeowners for planting bulbs last fall.  Thank you.  Because yesterday, after walking past mud and leftover snow, my husband spotted this in our yard.  It feels like they sprouted up overnight, and I couldn't be more excited.

My one girlfriend in NYC--who also had fabulous warm weather this weekend--is calling this week, the Spring Tease, and that surely we will be in for more cold winter weather.  I hope she is wrong (but suspect she's right).

Happy Weekend!

Hope you have some nice plans for the weekend, my friends!  I am looking forward to temperatures that might exceed 50 degrees (fingers crossed)!  What a thrill, Spring feels like it may be on it's way.  Finally.

Lovely Transferware

image via country living

I love a clean, modern kitchen with vintage accents... just like Trina's kitchen, of A Country Farmhouse.  I love the inset cabinets, warm wood countertop and white open shelving.  She has shared her amazing kitchen renovation on her fabulous blog (here and here) and I have swooned about it before here.  One of my favorite features is how Trina styles her shelves.

It's clean and it feels uncluttered. Oh, and that transferware! Trina rotates three different shades of transferware, to constantly revive the look of her shelving. Brilliant.

Well, last weekend while at an estate auction, I found three gorgeous transferware plates (and immediately thought of Trina's kitchen).  In brown and white, these guys are hallmarked Royal Mail English Staffordshire Ironstone.  I think that they would be fabulous hung on a wall in a kitchen, dining room, or entryway...  and, Trina totally inspired me to buy them.

Friday's Etsy Shop: Davie & Chiyo Clutches

Today's Etsy shop is Vancouver based, Davie & Chiyo Clutches.  This amazing shop is owned and operated by two lovely sisters who creatively experiment with new styles and fabrics, and pay exceptional attention to detail.  I LOVE the pop of color these little clutches can bring to a simple black dressSo feminine and chic...

Planning a wedding?  Listen up Brides and Bridesmaids-- Davie & Chiyo will take custom orders, just choose your shade of dupioni silk.  What a fabulous gift for the Bridesmaids (or the Bride herself!).

Some of my (girly) personal favorites include...

Kid's Red Rocker

If I had children (or any children in my life in need of spoiling) I would have bought this by now-- a vintage kid's rocking chair,  recovered in shiny red vinyl with silver nailhead trim.  Someone needs to buy this... and at $175 (with free shipping!) you can't go wrong.  What kid wouldn't love this?

Scandinavian Mudrooms

I love the black and white schemes of these mudrooms, especially the checkered floor.  Both were featured in the fabulous Swedish magazine, Skona Hem (I can't read a damn word of it, but that's ok)...

Even Ikea features a similarly styled, modern, black and white mudroom... The circular mats are pretty cute too (via the online catalog).
