Here's what I came up with for the guest room design:
My client was inspired by this adorable bedroom, so it was a large influence on the design...
simple bed, cozy linens, lots of light, lots of texture.
Then, we thought it might be fun to do a great wall treatment on the one large bedroom wall. Something quirky and insteresting... Maybe a wall of maps?
Or, it might be fun to show off a collection of antique team photos (or military photos). All in black and white. Love their vintage appeal, and that long rectangular shape...
And, I've always loved this graphic shot of Kristin Cunningham's guest room. So simple! Framed vintage doilies:
What would you pick?
And, how long do your guests normally visit? A couple of days? A week? Do you love the extended visits? Or, do you need a "less comfortable" guest room?!

I loooove that pillow and rug! Beautiful design, as always. As for guests, they usually only stay a few days tops, and that's plenty for me! :)
That looks great! I actually wouldn't mind spending the week there! It was interesting to read your post because I've just started designing our guest room, and was inspired by a photo I saw in Lonny. Here's a link if you're interested: http://doodlebuds.blogspot.com/2011/05/guest-bedroom.html
I love those old yearbook pictures. I have to say-- there are hazards to having too cozy a guest room. Folks who come and stay for weeeeeeeeks.... and we are redoing that bathroom right now-- they will never go home when it's done! Maybe I will go on vacation in my own guest room...
A guest room is so much fun to decorate. It's small, quirky, easy to make inviting. So make sure the mattress is uncomfortable. Ha ha! (Ok that's what we did anyway. I'm having too much fun decorating.)
You make it look so easy.
Gorgeous inspiration.
xoxo
