Driveway Update: New Retaining Wall

Over the last week, Dave and I have worked overtime to complete the installation of our new driveway.  Here are some updates...

we bought 4 pallets of Pennsylvania fieldstone from a local stone yard...

Pennsylvania fieldstone in "Colonial Red"-- sold!

We laid down a layer of modified gravel...

... and, we began working on the retaining walls that will flank the driveway entrance.  Stack by stack, stone by stone...

Dave, finishing the top layer.

So far, so good!  We're making progress.  Next project: lay the cobblestone pavers.

Oh, Kell... great job as always! Give that handy husband of yours a big high five from me and J. We built a retaining wall at our last house and holy cow! My back ached for weeks! I swear just building and leveling the foundation and first row was the hardest part of the whole darn thing.

Hey Kelly. I'm in the Philly area and want old cobblestones to line my tree pits. Where did you find them?

I certainly agree with everyone here! Your driveway looks great, and you are not even finished yet! The field stones are perfect for the driveway. It is an excellent retaining wall, and the rough edges of the stones will add beauty to your driveway. I can’t wait to see the outcome! Keep us posted!
