Wall To Wall Seagrass

Wall to wall carpeting is not usually my first choice when designing a home.  However, there are places where wall to wall is a total necessity, and in those situations I always gravitate toward wool.  You'll never regret a wool carpet.

But, have you ever considered wall to wall seagrass?  I've seen it in retail spaces where it knocks my socks off, but I've never specified it for a residential space.  Fellow blogger, Lauren Liess is a big fan.  She put it in her home and raved about the results.  These pictures inspire me to include wall to wall seagrass in some future design projects.  So gorgeous!  What do you think?

I love love the look and was planning on doing it in our family room but chickened out. I ordered a carpet that sort of looks like seagrass, will see after it's installed. Crossing fingers.

It really does look great and if it can handle the traffic of retail it should stand up well for a house.

i love wall to wall seagrass and would totally do it in my bedrooms. as a matter of fact, the carpet needs to be replaced upstairs and that's the perfect selection, in the event i decide not to do bamboo.

love the look. Also love seagrass area rugs. Heck I think seagrass walls would be pretty good!

I LOVE the look of seagrass and was contemplating your same decision just last week. I ended up choosing wool because I was worried about the stain resistance (or lack thereof) of seagrass. One day...

I have had seagrass wall-to-wall in 3 of my previous homes, and I LOVE IT in so many ways, the stain resistance is AMAZING (I think someone asked about that), it also looks fantastic, it is super resilient to high traffic areas, and it looks great even when a little worn! The only downside to me is that it doesn't feel good to walk on in bare feet, which means that I would not recommend it in a nursery or playroom.

I'm a big fan of wall-to-wall seagrass and actually in the process of installing it in our new house! It is such a great way to add texture and it has such great color. - Rachel

Yeah, but you try kneeling down on it to change a diaper or pick up a toddler - v uncomfortable!
