Two Ottomans & A Coffee Table

I'm working on a living room design for a local Philadelphia client, and in place of the traditional large square coffee table, I've decided to use a threesome of two ottomans and a rectangular coffee table.  I love this type of grouping for so many reasons: 1) it's much more interesting than one large table, 2) the two ottomans can provide extra seating when entertaining, and 3) it's flexible.  And, in this case, the ottomans will be sitting right in front of a fireplace.  So, they provide the perfect place to cozy up and get warm.  :)

I searched my inspiration files for some good examples of this threesome, and I think that Victoria Hagan does it best.  The ottomans are so tailored, they seem like an extension of the coffee table itself:

Are you thinking of trying this trick in your living room or family room?  Here are some other spaces that might inspire you...

Fun play on words. I have that coffee table - 2 ottoman arrangement in my living room right now.

I've actually been considering this for our living room, but worried about the ottomans taking up too much walking space. Good to see some that have the ottomans and table quite close together - they can always be moved if someone wants to sit down. Thanks for sharing!

This is the exact layout of my living room (that currently is empty). I know it adds two more things to purchase but am leaning towards adding the ottomans!

I really love all the pics/examples. Do you have links/sources? Would love to know where they are from.

This is the exact solution to my family room seating arrangement. My husband and I use two club chairs for tv viewing and can each have our own ottoman and I'll move the one ottoman we've been sharing in front of the sofa which we moved to the adjacent wall. It will act as the coffee table/ extra seating. He wanted a recliner, but that would be too bulky and throw off any symmetry. It's funny how I just had to see your post to figure it out! Thanks. Judy

I am crushing on your blog...

Will your share some sources for moderately priced coffee tables - clean metal lines with the distressed wood top - as featured in many of the rooms in your post.

The Durham Cocktail Table from Ballard Designs is so far the closest I have found.

Its such a good use of space. I would use little ottomans/benches in every room if I could!

I saw the image of the two white tufted chairs on Pinterest and I scrolled through every blog to find them. Do you by any chance know what magazine or catalog they were featured in? I tried zooming in and I can't make it out in the corner. I appreciate any help!
