Wedding Fever & Fancy Hats

I'm not the type of girl that gets caught up in celebrity, or ridiculous Hollywood hype.  But for some reason, I am LOVING all of the cheesy coverage on the Royal Wedding.  TV shows like William & Kate: A Royal Love Story, Countdown To The Royal Wedding, Charles & Di: Once Upon A Time, A Modern Monarchy... People speculating: what will her dress look like?  How much are they spending on flowers?  How will Kate's life change?  I love it all.

I even saw a show called Wild About Prince Harry (sign me up for that one, please!).

So, on Friday morning, I will be DVRing this fantasy wedding and everything that goes with it... under the excuse that it's a "historical event".  I don't want to miss a thing.

And, while we're on the subject, can we talk about Kate Middleton's hats?  The girl looks good in just about anything, but can you believe how well she wears these fancy hats?  All of a sudden, I've got the urge to go out and buy a tiny feathered hat...

Or, maybe it's about something sleeker...  Like a beret or a fidora:

Or, maybe it's something a bit more masculine.  Like this wide brim hat (actually called an akubra)

Or, something in fur??

The girl looks good in anything.

And just think, soon she'll be wearing a diamond tiara.

(can't wait to see the wedding dress on Friday!)

Are you guys as crazy as me?  Or, are you sick of all the Royal nonsense?

Totally nutso over the whole thing!! I've owned a couple of hats/fascinators for a while (I live near Saratoga Race Course, so I actually have an excuse for the hats!) and will definitely be enjoying scones, tea and crumpets in my jim-jams and silly topper while watching the whole thing. Can't wait!

I think the reason we're all so excited is b/c we know it's so different for Will and Kate. They're best friends, they laugh and really enjoy being together (unlike Charles and Diana). She's so beautiful and I love her fashion sense, but I really don't like the black eyeliner! LOL I'm DYING to see the dress. Hope it's not too old for her, that's my only wish. xoxo

I'm totally into it, too! Especially since I just went to London for the first time and am loving all things British! She's a gorgeous woman and they seem truly in love...cannot wait to see her dress!

xo,
Laura

Oh I'm right there with you! My mother is English and I was born there so I've grown up loving the royals (my Nan used to tell us she knew the Queen hehe). I'm actually watching it live at Lacroix at the Rittenhouse Hotel. Full English breakfast included ;) Can't wait!

I'm with you Kelly! I grew up with a royal obsessed Mom, watched everything with her, and I can't wait to watch this with her. A REAL princess!!

My sister just flew in (to Michigan) from New York so all the girls in our family can watch the wedding together at a hotel. We've got the fever bad! We're telling ourselves it's for nostalgia's sake, because we watched Charles and Diana's wedding. I'm not sure what's gotten into us.

I've got RWF - Royal Wedding Fever. The symptoms include the need to drink tea from a china tea cup (no mugs), lots of scones and cream and a conservatory for the house. The champagne is already on ice for the big day. Can't wait! Amber

I haven't watched much leading up to the big day, but I will watch the wedding! When I was a little girl, my mom let me watch the royal wedding of Diana and Prince Charles and it was so much fun. I met break my 'no tv' rule for my daughter for this one. C'mon, it's a real princess wedding! (Will he dump her for another woman as soon as she produces an heir and a spare? Oye.)

AND one more thing. Isn't it nice to have an elegant young woman splashed across the news instead of Lindsay, Paris or Kim? Good grief.

You guys are SO AWESOME. Do you think I could have this conversation at home with my *husband*?!! I'm with all you gals-- let's eat scones, drink tea (or champagne!) and toast to this Royal occassion. It's just for fun. :)

Renee- I never thought about it, but yes, Kate does get a little heavy with the eye liner. And, I totally agree, the dress should be young and modern. While still being fit for a princess.

Anne-Marie -- Totally, SO MUCH BETTER than seeing Lindsay, or Paris Hilton. Break the TV rule and watch it with Anastasia. I bet she'll love it. A real live princess story. :)

In a related note: I am on the hunt for stylish fascinators available here in the US. I would definitely wear one this summer (so perfect for a wedding). That red one that Kate is wearing is my FAVE.

xoxo

I'm also obsessed. I think my interest comes from seeing William finally find happiness with such a beautiful woman. He's seen such tragedy and seems like such a wonderful guy. It's the happy ending we all hoped for him!

Not a fan of "The Wedding" hoopla but I do LOVE the HATS!

Such a great post on her hats!! I love them all. And she pulls them off so cleverly. And after watching this mornings wedding, its clear she's got great taste even in hats as some of the hats this morning were doozies!
