50% OFF "End Of Summer SALE"

Pssst!

High Street Market will be hosting a HUGE "End of Summer SALE" this Wednesday, starting at 12 noon (EST), and ending on Thursday at 12 noon (EST). That's right-- it's only 24 hours!

In addition to the current inventory already available, we will be adding over 200 more vintage items to the shop!  So, there will be many unique pieces to choose from.  Feel free to buy as many pairs as you would like-- you will receive a 50% refund on the second, lesser item!

So, here's how it works...

  • The sale starts on Wednesday, 12 noon EST and ends on Thursday, 12 noon EST. All items will be hidden from view on Wednesday morning, but will be LIVE at 12 noon sharp!
  • Buy one item and get your second item (of equal or lesser value) at 50% OFF!
  • Just because something is in your cart, does not mean it's not in someone else's cart... so, to avoid a heartbreaking situation, don't wait. If you buy two items at different times, I will combine them to qualify for the 50% savings!
  • All items must be paid for at the time of sale, and your 50% savings will be refunded to your Paypal account immediately!
  • Unfortunately, the discount does not apply to shipping charges. But, as always, I will try to combine shipping whenever possible!
  • International Buyers-- Please email me for a shipping quote as all items are rated for Domestic US shipping only. I will respond to every inquiry as soon as possible.

Hope to see you at 12 noon on Wednesday!

xx

Emmy Night 2010

I normally don't pay much attention to award shows, but last night at the Emmy Awards, my two FAVES won for Best Drama and Best Comedy series: Mad Men and Modern Family.  I couldn't have been happier to hear the news.  These shows are really great...

(I love this show so much. The sets and costumes alone are enough to make me watch)

(This show makes me laugh out loud every week! Can't wait for the new season to start!)

P.S. This afternoon, I will be making a big announcement about the shop!  You won't want to miss it!

Mexican Tiles

This gorgeous floor, made of custom-designed Mexican floor tiles, stretches from the indoor kitchen all the way to the outdoor courtyard!  How fabulous is this?

This Los Angeles home, owned by Commune Design founder, Ramin Shamshiri, was recently refeatured on Design*Sponge.  Scope out the rest of the place, HERE.

A Mid-Century Delight

I spotted these pictures over at Design Milk and I thought they were so good, I had to share them with all of you.  This mid-century modern gem of a house, located in Pasadena, California, was originally designed in 1959 by Buff, Straub & Hensman.  And, it was most recently remodeled by Los Angeles based architecture firm, Space International, keeping the original bones of the home intact.  Based on the images here, the design project looks like a major success.

That pool alone makes me swoon...

A Fireside Chat

As summer comes to an end (no!), the topic of heating our house has gradually found its way back into conversation.  We have radiant heat (which I love!), powered by an enormous oil tank that lives in the basement.  That heat is kept somewhat low (it's just the two of us here, after all), and we get by with space heaters here and there.

But, what I wouldn't give for two working fireplaces.  Ours are closed up at the moment, but we plan on restoring them...  someday.  Until then, these images are my inspiration...

Happy Thursday!

H&M Fall 2010

I have be honest, I'm a little bummed that summer is nearly over.  I love everything about it: long days, warm nights, lightning bugs, shorts, tank tops, flip flops, BBQ...  And, as a result, I usually don't give the coming season of fall a warm reception.  Until today.  I spotted these fall looks from H&M at one of my favorite blogs, Everything Fabulous, and I got a little excited about wearing knits again.

A Tiny Birthday

This morning, I wanted to share a completely adorable little birthday party hosted by Caroline Armelle (read her gorgeous blog HERE).  Caroline's daughter, Norah, turned one this July and to celebrate the joyful event, Caroline planned a perfectly tiny birthday party...

There were tiny cakes and tiny little drinks (love the "tiny water" bottles!)...

Tiny fruit kabobs and tiny bow tie pasta salad...

tiny buns for tiny hamburgers and hot dogs...

and, even more pint sized treats...

the gift bags were also adorable, "good things come in tiny packages!"

But, my favorite little detail might have been these tiny invites.  Caroline printed them herself!  The invitation was the size of a business card(!) and she enclosed it within a tiny little manilla envelope. She even sent guests a tiny magnifying glass!

the invite, hand modeled by the one year old birthday girl herself...

Happy Weekend!

Happy weekend, darlings!  This post is a day late, but we've been busy at High Street Market and Friday got away from me.  So, do you have any exciting plans for the weekend?  Today, I went to a flea market, installed some new shelving in my office, and baked Texas-sized carrot cake muffins for a dinner party we will be attending tonight (it's a lobster/clam bake and I couldn't be more excited).  Have you seen these Texas-sized pans?  They make giant muffins, or in my case, individual carrot cakes.  Yummy.

Happy weekend!

Robert Stilin & Classic Hamptons Style

Recently, I stumbled upon the professional website of interior designer, Robert Stilin, and spent the majority of an afternoon swooning over his design portfolio.  If you're not familiar with his work, you may remember this famous cook's kitchen that he designed a few years ago...

Of course, the famous foodie that works in this gorgeous space is none other than Ina Garten, the one and only Barefoot Contessa and otherwise food genius.  Ina always keeps the focus on the food, and the people that you share the food with... she's non-intimidating and friendly.  Oh, and everything she makes is completely divine.  But, enough about Ina.  Let's get back to the design of her incredible East Hampton barn/guest house/office/kitchen work space.

Robert Stilin worked with Ina to create a one-of-a-kind space that was steeped in Belgian influences.   He combined textured linens, natural woods, and a monochromatic color scheme to create a space that was laid back, yet completely refined.  When House Beautiful asked Ina to describe the new space, she called it "earthy and elegant."  I think that combination is exactly what makes this place so special... that, and the 18 foot long countertop!

Robert Stilin & Ina Garten

Robert's professional website is also chock-full of fabulous images.  I love how each space feels clean, comfortable, and ultimately functional... but he does it in such a modern way.  To me, this is the epitome of classic Hamptons style.
