Still Here!

peaceful and sunny image from Lonny

Sorry, I'm still here!  We are moving this week and if I'm not loading the van with boxes, I am managing the shop...  and this craziness has left no time for the blog.  I cannot believe what a huge hoarder I am.  Not really, but kind of.  Seeing ALL of the crazy things that I have been dragging around with me from California to Pennsylvania has given me serious cause for concern.  I feel the need to purge and organize.  Is this normal?  Has anyone else been horrified by the sheer amount of crap they keep (and never use!) in their homes?  Do we only realize this during a move?  Only me?  Ok.

On a side note, have you guys seen Hoarders on A&E? THAT show is horrifying...  yet, I can sadly relate to some of the cases (not the ones where people sort through their trash for "keepsakes" but the episode where the gal bought endless amounts of patio cushions for the BBQ she dreamed of having?  But, in reality she just kept collecting and collecting, furniture and cushions kept piling up and piling up...  I can relate to that one, a little bit).  It comes on right after my other favorite show, Intervention, on Monday nights.

Have a great weekend, my friends.  Promise to be back with more normal posts next week!

  1. We've discussed this a little over Twitter, but I can 100% relate. See, my husband left a couple months ago to North Carolina and took the things he needed to live with him. Due to some circumstances, I was left with the rest of the packing. And it's ALL MY STUFF. I've always thought I was good about getting rid of things, but I guess not! It's disgusts me, really. So yes to answer your question, I am getting rid of TONS.

And to make myself feel even more like someone on the show Hoarders, I've been so busy with finishing my day job/finishing my decorating jobs and packing, that my kitchen is overflowing with dishes and water glasses. Did I just admit that?! I've reached a new low!

But it will all be over in two weeks.

Good luck with the packing!!! I'm glad I have someone who can relate.

  2. Good luck with the move. I always do a huge purge everytime we move. You really think about what you need when you have to pack it up and carry it. :)

  3. I was JUST talking about this yesterday! I constantly buy things I can't wait to use someday. Is it weird/unhealthy that I'm DYING to see what you want to purge? haha

  4. Story of my life! "This would be perfect for..." or "if I had this kind of party..." Just got a booth at an antique mall so now I say to myself, "well I can always put it in the booth!" I think I have a sickness! :)

  5. I have been cleaning out my home office for the past hour- where does this crap come from?

Yes, I watch Hoarders- even though it gives me anxiety!

    Good luck w/ the move...

  6. I love Intervention and watch it every Monday night. Hoarders causes me so much anxiety that I can't watch it before bed....these crazy people are willing to lose their children rather than get rid of 10 year old newspapers!

The few times that I did watch it, I started looking around my house and immediately noticed I had some light "tendencies" - magazines, receipts, wrapping paper, stationary, bowls, platters..just to name a few:-)

  7. It's so totally normal and so completely overwhelming to deal with. We're in the process of finishing our basement. Talk about a dumping ground for "I could use this if..." and "but it was such a great deal". The purging feels amazing once you get going. Craigslist will become your new BFF and the charitable donations are a tax write off.
I'm even dumping fabrics which for me felt like loosing a thumb in days of old.
    Good luck!
