Current Inspiration

I'm currently obsessed with the idea of using a small-print wallpaper somewhere...  In a bedroom, a bathroom, or a tiny hallway-- I can't stop thinking about it.

Also on my mind: I want to paint my (100% brick) house...

I'm also inspired by these green kitchen cabinets...

(and that awesome floor tile)

Love the idea of using two mirrors, side by side, instead of one large one.  We're doing this trick at a clients home and I'm really excited about it.  This image is from Thomas O'Brien.

(again, another great inspiration for small-print wallpaper-- love it.)

Spring is here and that means getting out in the yard and working on the landscape.  Love the White Flower Farm catalog and want to buy (and plant) everything on it's pages...

I planted Allium and Jacqueline Tulips last fall, and they're already starting to pop up.

  1. no! don't do it!

nothing's more stately than a true-to-form brick house.

though, I also think nothing's more stately than a classic white/black clapboard.

enjoy your home whatever you decide!

  4. Having a degree in Architecture and currently working on my Masters Degree in Historic Preservation, I am begging you to please restrain from painting the brick on your house. Paint compromises the composition of the brick and once it is painted you can never completely take it back off with out destroying the structural integrity of the material. If you changed your mind and chose to remove the paint it would require sand blasting which would remove the paint along with the the fired exterior of the brick as well. Once the fired exterior is gone moisture would then be allowed to seep in and cause spalling.

Your home is beautiful and it would break my heart to see a house built in the 1890s lose her stately integrity by such a drastic change.

  5. Love the pics. I'm currently having the same obsession over the wallpaper...... and I recommend going for it with painting the house. My home is white with black shutters, etc. and I can't imagine ever changing it!

  8. Kelly, this question is coming from left field regarding a post on January 10th. You featured a bed in that post that has gold and white chevron Euro shams and a bolster pillow in a blue and white print. Can you tell me where I can source the chevron shams...or something close to them?

  9. E- those shams are made from Quadrille "Tashkent" fabric, available only to the trade (it's quite pricy as well). If you're interested in buying a few yards, you can always buy the fabric through my office. Just let me know. You can also do a google search-- you might find it available somewhere on the web. Good luck!
