A Modern Mix In The Hollywood Hills

One of my favorite images from the recent issue of Lonny Magazine.  This sunlit photo makes me wish that summer would start tomorrow! Cooper, the sweet pup above, enjoying the California sunshine, lives in the fabulously decorated home of Hadi Halawani and Kevin Howells.  Designed by Trip Haensich, this home perched among the trees in the West Hollywood Hills is modern and bohemian all rolled into one.  And all that warn sunshine?  I'm jealous.

I love this bright white entry, flanked by white sqaure pots.

When drapery is done with an inverted pleat, like these, everything just looks cleaner, sleeker, and less fussy.

I love the fiddle leaf fig, and the blonde wood of the coffee table and chair-- it suits a California home.  Plus, it really brightens the space.

terraces that seem to run the entire width of the house!

and a cozy guest room gets a little bling with an orange Hermes blanket.

even a fire pit!

With lows at 13 degrees (last night), I think it might be time to plan a quick vacation...  to a warmer spot.  Has anoyone been to Savannah, Georgia?  We're considering a road trip there!  Let me know if you have any insight!  I'd love to hear!

Happy Weekend, everyone!

  1. Savannah is amazing! My husband and I took our first road trip there for St. Patrick's Day, and a few years later we were married there as well. It's so charming and beautiful, just like your beautiful blog and etsy shop!

  3. Take walking shoes and do the restored historic district tour. The old homes there are beautifully preserved. We stayed in a hotel over looking the river there, it was so cool watching ocean going ships coming up the river. It was in a restored cotton warehouse. I love Savannah.

  4. I just back from a trip to Savannah, and I just summarized the trip on my blog. My favorite tour was the Foody Tour. Google "Savannah Foody Tour" and it's the first thing that pops up. We also went to Tybee Island and walked on the beach and toured the lighthouse there.

    * (2) Such charming, FABULOUSLY simple n' unpretentious, comfy-looking spaces & beauuutiful, relaxing views (I was born n' raised in So Cal, so I know it all very well!)...ANNND, not ONE but TWO of the Hermes blankets I so dearly love & hope to have at least ONE of..."someday"!

    * (3) We lived on the "outskirts", to to speak, of Savannah for a two plus years (my husband was the Commanding General of 3ID, at nearby Ft. Stewart)~~~ talk about WONNNNDERFUL pieces/antiques/accents for the home, charming people, great B&Bs, yummy food, super older homes to view, etc... You will have NO SHORTAGE of TERRIFFIC things to see n' do, that's for sure!!! ENJOY!

  11. I like the house, but I am kind of "over" the Hermes blanket trend (not that I was ever really on it - not so much my price range). They seem to be everywhere and I have to say the thing I remember most about this house after looking at it was that they used it in multiple rooms - it just struck me as pretentious. I think I'm alone on that feeling though as the trend seems everywhere and people gush over it!

  12. Just got back from Savannah - amazing design stores on Broughton and further down on Whitaker Street - the Design Area (there is a brochure/map) with design and antique stores. My sisters and rented a row house - ended up being more affordable than some of the b&b's plus we could chill out in the kitchen or living room at the end of the day before heading out for amazing food - Alligator Soul, Noble Faire, Soho Cafe, Circa to name a few. Home tours - Mercer House (not just for connection THE book, but for the amazing collection of fine, museum quality pieces) and Owens Thomas House. Great ghost tour - several options. Reading THE book right before you go is kinda fun - gets you in the mood. And as someone pointed out, Charleston is close by and worth the visit - I haven't been there for over 10 years, so don't have current recommendations. Have fun!! (PS - I blogged about the Paris Market store)

  13. I'd recommend Charleston if you're thinking of headed to Savannah! A wondrous city, to say the least :) So charming and quaint with so much history--not to mention amazing food and shopping! There's more to do than in Savannah--but then again, Savannah is also amazing. If you ever head to Charleston I'd be happy to give you a list of recommendations! I live here :)

LOVE your blog! So happy to have stumbled across it.
