Current Inspiration: Ashli Mizell

While browsing through the Elle Decor website, I stumbled upon the portfolio of Philadelphia designer Ashli Mizell.

I love how she mixes the old with the new...  love all that bold color (the pink wall in that dining room with all the portraits? so unexpected) ... and then the wallpaper with the sputnik light fixture!
Love that too.

Visit her portfolio HERE!

On a side note, I'm running out of town so the blog will be silent for a few days!  But when I come back, I'll share some progress pictures of our garden, and a little DIY project with a shadow box frame.

Happy Tuesday!

A Striped Entry

I love this entry, from Amanda Nisbet
This look could be recreated with some paint, a few rolls of painters tape, and a lot of patience, don't you think?

Or, you could just save yourself the time and spring for the wallpaper instead.
I love this Nina Cambell version in grey and gold!

*Just a reminder: today is the last day to enter the giveaway (you have until midnight to leave a comment!), and it's the last day to get free shipping + 20% off your order at Emma Stine

MWM Interior Design

love the unexpected orange dining chair, mixed with the gorgeous chinoiserie wallpaper

Massucco Warner Miller Interior Design is a company formed by three women: Julie Massucco, Melissa Warner, and Carrie Miller.  Based in San Francisco, the MWM design trio also have offices in Los Angeles and Seattle.  One of their recent San Francisco projects was featured in the premiere issue of the Australian online magazine, Ivy & Piper (and incidently, one of my favorites, Anna Spiro, was also featured this issue!).  I love the way MWM incorporates bold color and modern design within a traditional format.  The spaces feel completely polished without being too formal.  Sophisticated without feeling stuffy.  Every room feels fun, don't you think?

a classic pedestal sink with lucite legs(!) and a gold Asian-inspired mirror
(doesn't it look like my mirror?! here it is in our old townhouse)

love the coral drapery with the gold floral wall

pink tufted chairs with a rolled arm! a very unexpected twist on a classic piece.

wouldn't this vanity make the most beautiful desk? love the mirror too.

of course, I'm smitten with banquettes.

another fabulous mirror...

again, love that unexpected shot of color.
in this case, orange.  with a zebra bed skirt.

I encourage you to check out the MWM portfolio HERE...
and, of course, view the entire first issue of Australia's Ivy & Piper online magazine HERE!

A Wallpapered Coset

So, I found another great image of "Coranata Star" wallpaper.  This time, on the ceiling of a closet.  Again, I love this wallpaper, so I flagged this image for my own inspiration file.

And, it has taken me to the entire subject of wallpapered closets.  I personally, think that it is a fabulous detail we all can afford.  It's a great way to use leftover wallpaper rolls.  (Or, if you impulsively bought those few rolls on clearance?  And, now you aren't sure what to do with them? Why not wallpaper the closet!).

I also love the idea of wallpapering the interior of an armoire... It sort of feels like you're opening a jewelry box.

My friend, Jenny, used large sheets of craft paper to line the interior of her closet.  I love way it turned out-- it looks like vintage wallpaper!

A Star Studded Ceiling

I love the idea of putting wallpaper on the ceiling, especially when it's as starry as this one...

from Canadian House & Home

How perfect is this for a kids room?  Or a teen room?  Or a family room?  I absolutely love it.  (The shape of the stars remind me of the Moravian Star light fixtures that I love so much.)

If you're interested, this wonderful starry wallpaper is called "Coranata Star" and it's available at Osborne & Little, find it HERE.  If you would like to order it, please contact me for details!

Shop Window At Black & Spiro

I adore Anna Spiro and have mentioned my admiration of her work before.  Well, Anna just posted an image of the front window at her shop, Black & Spiro.  How awesome is this?  That wallpaper.  The lamps!  So great.

Preppy Plaid

Loving these preppy plaid coasters available at Pendleton USA.  They make me want to buy a large leather chesterfield sofa, and drink a martini.

While you're there, pick up this chic plaid throw...  The color scheme is great.

and, a set of tartan dessert plates!

I'm loving plaid wallpaper lately...

Did you know that the Home Depot carries affordable and super chic plaid wallpaper?  Seriously.
