LOVE

The other day, I posted this picture of a bedroom designed by Eric Cohler.  And, I made it clear that I loved that LOVE pillow.  Well, thanks to The Well Appointed House I can get one for myself!  It's 100% cashmere (mmm) and it will set me back $289.00.  Ok, so it's on the wish list.

And while we're on the subject, here's a bit of history on the iconic LOVE sculpture:
  • The LOVE icon was originally designed by Robert Indiana in 1964 when he was commissioned to design the 1964 Christmas Card for the Museum of Modern Art.
  • The original sculpture, made of steel, is on exhibit at the Indianapolis Museum of Art (and it has been there since 1975)
  • It has been reproduced in many colors, and multiple versions are on display all over the world.
  • And, a little local Philadelphia LOVE.....   "LOVE Park" in Center City, Philadelphia (across from City Hall) is known for the large red LOVE sign that overlooks the park.  It was placed there during the city's Bicentennial celebration in 1976.

Pillows

crewel throw pillows here and here

As I mentioned in yesterday's post, High Street Market is now offering a limited edition of handmade throw pillows.  This project was a long time coming, and I am so grateful for the support we've received (thank you, Courtney!).   When I decided to add throw pillows to the shop, I knew that I wanted them to be well-made, very affordable, and above all unique.

chocolate, zanzibar, and the best snow leopard print in the universe

So, I decided to collect vintage fabrics (chintz happens to be my current vintage obsession-- more pillows are in the works) and I ordered a few yards of my all-time favorite prints-- Zanzibar and Snow Leopard.  And, my very small High Street Market pillow collection was born.  So, I hope you like it.  Let me know if you would like to see something else added to the shop, and I will do my best to create it!

Oh, and that chair?  Here is what it looked like 'before'... (this also seems to be a 'before' picture of the 2nd floor hallway).

With an ivory upholstry weight linen, it got an easy makeover...

Cute Pillows

Mom and Dad recently bought all new (gorgeous!) furniture for their family room/library (good job, guys!) and as a result, needed to upgrade the throw pillow situation...  I found them some affordable options, that when mixed together, look pretty chic.  What do you think?

These two bird pillows..

With this crewel animal print...

Then, add a few solid velvet pillows.  Maybe in green?  Or, that ginger orange?

I can't wait to see the room with all new furniture when we visit for Christmas, Mom.  Can't wait!

When shopping for Mom and Dad, these pillows also caught my attention...

(right now, horchow is offering 30% off of everything on the site!)

Friday's Etsy Shop: Plum Cushion!

Exquisite pillows in to-the-trade fabrics.  Need I say more?  And, considering that these fabrics cost about $160.00 per yard, the prices here are extremely low-- starting at $75 per pillow, and that includes the feather insert!  Go visit Plum Cushion and treat your sofa to a new set of throw pillows!  And, did you see the designer stockings?

Fabricadabra!

Thank you, Blue Hydrangea, for mentioning Fabricadabra today.  What a great online store, full of eclectic pillows and shams... so similar to Madeline's it seems like a suspicious knock-off?  But, who am I to complain?!  We all love a good deal.  All of these pillows are around $40.00!

A few wool kilims...

Even a little Rubie Green?

And, one more for my new found LOVE of Philadelphia...
