Chilly Misty Morning

This is what it looked like near our house this morning.  It was 7am and 32 degrees.  I snapped this picture before heading out to the flea markets.

Hello Lover.

Just bought this yesterday. I think it might change my life. I've got high expectations. Probably should have asked Amanda her opinion, but I had to have it and didn't think straight.

I expect that now I will be able to take pictures like this...

I told you. I am aiming high.

Happy Weekend!

Have a terrific weekend, friends. I have a date with my husband to the Harry Potter movie tonight (yay!), flea marketing tomorrow, and heading to a Bridal Shower for one of my best friends on Sunday! Very busy.

Check back Sunday night for a slew of new vintage items, ok?

Friday's Etsy Shop: Sharon Montrose!

This shop is so fantastic. I know, I know. You've already been there and swooned over the photographs. Everyone was talking about it the minute it opened, right? Well, for those of you who don't know, I will tell you. Sharon Montrose's shop on Etsy is terrific. I have never seen photography with such unique subject matter. Portraits of prairie dogs, kangaroos, alligators, and geese... all in a days work, right?

Sharon is a very accomplished photographer. She has published many many books featuring her animal photography (mostly dogs and cats), just search her name on Amazon.com. You'll see.

And, since I knew you were wondering, you CAN buy large limited edition prints! Just go to her website for the details!

Modern Wedding Photography

I am heading up to New York again this weekend for the country wedding of some close friends, and it seems that I have weddings on the brain! Since yesterday's post included some fabulous pictures of wedding decor, I felt inspired to revisit the website of the BEST photographer I know, Amanda Bevington. Based in Southern California (but her work takes her all around the world), she specializes in weddings and family photography (you really need to see her blog). Her photographs evoke a casual and candid feeling in an unexpected way, and seriously, everything looks prettier when she photographs it. She is amazing.

She will do engagement photos too...

I love how she can photograph a family and it never feels like a stiff, contrived family portrait; the photo is like a brief glimpse into their life at that moment. As I was browsing her blog yesterday, I came across this beautiful family photographed in their beautiful home.

Don't you love the Eames Rocker and the peace sign pillow in the baby's crib? When I saw this picture, I stopped dead in my tracks. Where can I get this amazing poster?

Anyone know?

Oh yeah, and we hired her for our wedding (almost 2 years ago!). I was more excited the day that Amanda agreed to photograph our wedding than the day I bought my dress. I still cannot believe that we got so lucky.

Here I am with my sexy husband!

Coral Pink and Navy Wedding!

One of my favorite blogs, Coco+Kelley recently posted an amazing spread by event design firm, JL Designs. I was blown away by the photos and the expert use of color.

This wedding was featured in the Summer 2009 issue of Bride & Bloom Magazine. Love the punch of yellow too. Enjoy!

Friday's Etsy Shop: Alicia Bock

I have lived my entire life in Southern California, where we pretty much sported flip flops year round. As a recent transplant to the East Coast, I whined through the entire winter (the novelty of coats and scarves gets old after about two weeks-- then it's just really cold and gray).

So, I am desperately waiting for Spring to make it's presence here for good. I tried to ignore the ice on my windshield yesterday morning, and I have left my coat at home because I am in denial. It's well into April, dammit. Where is the warm sun?

Until then, enjoy these gorgeous pictures from Alicia Bock. I am a big fan (I own three of these prints, hehe). Visit her etsy store here.

Have a joyous Easter Weekend!

**UPDATE: Heather is also upset about the lagging Spring weather***
