Instagram

I've recently discovered the wonders of Instagram.  This little iPhone app is pretty fantastic (and somewhat addicting).  Are you on Instagram?

Dave and I had a very relaxing 4th of July holiday.  We spent the afternoon walking around some of our favorite Philadelphia neighborhoods (taking notes on wonderful landscape and hardscape ideas).  I snapped these pictures and posted them on Instagram...

hydrangea, in the most sensational shades of pink and purple

can you believe these ivy swags??

I love the pattern on these brick steps

charming little entry

I'm posting on Instagram more often than the blog... so if you want to follow me, my username is kellyrobson.  I've also added a window along the right-side column of this blog-- it updates regularly with my Instagram pics.  :)

I hope you all had a Happy 4th of July!

Marilyn

Happy Weekend friends.  I thought I would post this picture of Marilyn (that I found on Pinterest) because she is gorgeous and the quote is truly delightful.  Also, I'll be back next week with a bunch of new blog posts.  I need to share the DIY on our antique brick pathway, and I'll also share an update on our newly planted Nellie Stevens Holly hedge.

Have a great weekend!

I Am Here...

I'm in Bonita Springs, Florida visiting my pregnant sister and enjoying the sunshine!  So far, we've seen 6 alligators (while driving through Alligator Alley) and we've been to the beach twice.  Also on the "to do" list (besides looking for alligators) is to furnish the nursery.  And, we've made some great progress this week.  Can't wait to share some pictures with you when it's finished.

Southwestern Florida must be one of the most beautiful places on earth.  I think it is.

Come On, Irene

Everyone is talking about Irene!  Hurricane Irene...  she's threatening the Atlantic coastline with 110 mph winds and coastal flooding.  Are you in the path of the storm?  What have you done to prepare?  We're staying put in Philadelphia and hoping it doesn't hit us too hard.

Today, I thought I would talk about a different Irene: Irene Suchocki.  She's a Montreal based photographer and her work is soooo dreamy.  I'm smitten with quite a few pieces.  Especially the cityscapes: New York, Paris, the Italian coastline... Check out her portfolio:

Isn't she so talented?

Contact Irene Suchocki for custom sizing (24" x 20" would be amazing, wouldn't it?), and visit her shop HERE.

Happy Weekend, everyone.  Hope you're staying dry wherever you are!

Square America

I have just discovered this website, and have spent the last thirty five minutes browsing the gallery.  I absolutely love these candid moments from a time gone by.

Square America has a book, Who We Were: A Snapshot History Of America, which is going on my wishlist.  And, there's a blog too.  Read it HERE.

A Snowy Morning

It snowed last night, so this morning, I decided to take a quick walk and enjoy the scenery.  Let me just say that I would never decide to do this, but there was absolutely NO WIND this morning and the sun was shining.  And, since we won't be living here much longer, I thought a walk sounded good.

The picture above is the large pond near our house (remember what it looked like in the Fall?).  Most of it is frozen, and covered in snow.  There is a smaller pond around the corner that some kids use as an ice skating pond (as a Southern California girl, this scares me!  I envision George Bailey jumping into the freezing water to save his brother...  but, these East Coasters have more confidence than me).

Fall Color & Snow In October!

Two weeks ago, we made a trip to Upstate NY to visit my husband's family.  I brought my camera and tried to snap a few pictures along the drive through the Pocono Mountains, which were full of fall color.  As the weather turned to rain, the rain turned to snow.  Snow.  Snow in the middle of October.  Really?

The leaves did look beautiful through the white snowflakes though...

The next day, the weather was gorgeous.  This is the view of Conesus Lake, NY.

And, this is what we came home to!  I'm not a girl with a camera at-the-ready, but I had to stop and take a picture.  This is the pond next to our neighborhood.  As the sun was setting.
