LOVE

The other day, I posted this picture of a bedroom designed by Eric Cohler.  And, I made it clear that I loved that LOVE pillow.  Well, thanks to The Well Appointed House I can get one for myself!  It's 100% cashmere (mmm) and it will set me back $289.00.  Ok, so it's on the wish list.

And while we're on the subject, here's a bit of history on the iconic LOVE sculpture:
  • The LOVE icon was originally designed by Robert Indiana in 1964 when he was commissioned to design the 1964 Christmas Card for the Museum of Modern Art.
  • The original sculpture, made of steel, is on exhibit at the Indianapolis Museum of Art (and it has been there since 1975)
  • It has been reproduced in many colors, and multiple versions are on display all over the world.
  • And, a little local Philadelphia LOVE.....   "LOVE Park" in Center City, Philadelphia (across from City Hall) is known for the large red LOVE sign that overlooks the park.  It was placed there during the city's Bicentennial celebration in 1976.

Friday's Etsy Shop: Poor Dog Farm

In honor of the 'Vintage Baby Sale' this week, I have decided to feature one of the most imaginative artists on Etsy, Poor Dog Farm.  I just DIE over these regal little illustrations-- frogs wearing golf caps, birds wearing motorcycle helmets (!) and owls in glasses!  I want to learn more about these eccentric characters... they are so intriguing.

How PERFECT are these for a kid's room?

For even more fabulous examples, shop at Poor Dog Farm's shop.  HERE.

Friday's Etsy Shop: DIMDi

In honor of the Easter weekend, I thought I would show you these fabulous watercolor (Easter) bunny prints from the Etsy shop, DIMDi.   Irene is a 26 year old artist from Italy, and she is an amazing talent.  I love her sweet and simple subject matter-- from squirrels to pink flamingos, DIMDi has a wide variety of beautiful animals painted in vibrant watercolors.  And, the ORIGINALS are only $25.00 each!  Yes, the originals.

I think that a collection of these would be absolutely perfect for a kid's room.  Don't you?

The Heads Of State

Thank you Apartment Therapy for introducing me to Philadelphia based design team, The Heads Of State.  Because, now I want this poster...
They have designed eight fabulous "city" posters (in limited edition), including Miami, New York City, Seattle, Chicago, San Francisco, Phoenix, Washington DC and of course, Philadelphia.  The 14" x 24" prints are only $30.00 each!

And hopefully soon, these guys will get to work designing a poster for Los Angeles?  Or, San Diego?  Or, Orange County?  Then, I can represent all of my 'home' cities.  That would be great.

Visit The Heads Of State website HERE.

Friday's Etsy Shop: Art By Cheryl Ratcliff

I love these beautiful oil paintings by Cheryl Ratcliff.  She is a self professed "daily painter" and sells her still life oil paintings on Etsy for INSANELY low prices.  I already have one of her paintings ("tomatoes" pictured above) and it looks adorable in my kitchen, but I want another one.  Most of her work is done on small canvases, so a collection of these tiny paintings looks really chic.  Plus, there is something so classic about her work...  and I just love her choice of color.

I want this one:

And, then I want this one:

And, these are some of my other favorites listed in her shop...

Etsy is a fabulous place to buy original art and you are directly supporting the artist!  The art in my house is either vintage (duh) or, it's from an Esty artist.  So, I encourage you to shop for art on Etsy!  There is a huge variety of work...  you are sure to find something that you like.

"Forks" by Julia Rothman

Love this print...  but, sadly, it is sold out.  What a fun way to remember that your salad fork is entirely different than say, your strawberry fork, or oyster fork.  Check out Julia Rothman's site HERE.
