A Striped Entry

I love this entry, from Amanda Nisbet
This look could be recreated with some paint, a few rolls of painters tape, and a lot of patience, don't you think?

Or, you could just save yourself the time and spring for the wallpaper instead.
I love this Nina Cambell version in grey and gold!

Domicile ID

The second issue of Rue Magazine was released on Monday, and the Rue girls really knocked it out of the park with this one.  Like the last issue, the Gift Guides are killer good (I mean it.  So good.  I'll have to post about them later next week), and the entire issue is just shy of 300 pages!

But, hands down, my favorite feature was this Orange County home designed by the Domicile ID team, Amanda Malson and Jolene Ballard.  (As a girl with roots in Orange County, I couldn't be more proud!)

The exceptional use of color (those pink drapes!) and the mix of high & low-end pieces make this space seem effortlessly chic.  This living room in particular is sophisticated yet welcoming... and to me, it feels really retro.  In a modern way.  I love it.

love the vintage pair of brass partridges.

can you believe that those side tables are a Craigslist find?  The girls painted them gold!

the white desk is actually an Ikea dining table!
The desk chair is a vintage find, reupholstered in that fabulous velvet.
And I love the upholstered parsons stool with yellow piping.

lovely lucite desk tray.

love the natural linen drapes against that navy wall!

The Tava Charger

Yesterday, I spent a small part of my afternoon helping a client of mine dress her dining table for Thanksgiving dinner.  The process was made easy because she already had the most amazing vintage linens, white Wedgwood china, and silver plated servingware on hand!  But, I suggested that she bring in a set of dark woven chargers to break up the white and add a bit of texture.  Plus, a woven charger just feels so earthy...  to me, it's the perfect choice for a Thanksgiving tablescape.

So, here is my top pick for a woven charger:

The "Tava charger" from Pottery Barn.  It's terrific.  I personally own a set of 12 (they're somewhere in storage!), and I have the matching coasters too.  I couldn't resist.  I love the fine weave and modern silhouette.  They work just as well with modern servingware as they do with your grandmother's china.  SO versatile.

And, they are perfect for Thanksgiving.

Anthology Magazine!

The premiere issue of Anthology Magazine arrived in my mailbox last week, and I was beside myself with excitement.  While, I completely adore my online shelter mags--and you know I do--I have to say that it was so nice to hold and feel a real magazine again (this reminds me, I must order my print versions of Lonny, asap).  After reading the magazine cover to cover, I am pleased to say that the premiere issue of Anthology is SO diverse.  It takes you though stylish home tours, it features colorful city guides (Park City, Utah!), and even had delicious recipes in the back!  A total surprise that I absolutely loved.

One more thing? A horse hook from my shop was featured in the issue!  I about DIED when I saw it.  I think I screamed.  "The Market Report", written by Joy Cho, focused on items that "get better with age".  Joy had contacted me last spring about the wall hook, saying that it may or may not be featured in "a fall article" she was writing...  I totally forgot about it until I opened Anthology Magazine.  Thank you, Joy!  I was beyond thrilled to see the vintage horse head wall hook (and my website!) in the issue!

Now that I'm done bragging (I'm sorry, but this was a major excitement for me... I had to gush about it!), here are some of my favorite shots from the premiere issue...

perhaps my favorite interiors shot in the whole issue. I LOVE the white plates on the wall, in combination with the white table top, white lamps and black shades.  This picture is sensational.
Anyone can do this with thrift store finds or vintage ironstone!

I love the unique layout and tailored style of this magazine.  Everything is so clean and modern, it's easy to read and the pictures are beautiful.  They are really setting their own path in the world of shelter magazines and I like that.  I can't wait to see future issues!

Also, I heard that Anthology Magazine will now be available for purchase at Anthropologie Stores
How terrific is this?  So, if you aren't a subscriber, pick one up at Anthropologie.

Bag Your Booze

My husband and I have a favorite local sushi restaurant that we love to visit on a regular basis.  The food is wonderful and what's even better?  It's BYOB.  Thank you!  So, it got me thinking about stylish wine totes.  I can't bring my wine to the table in a brown grocery bag, can I?  I need something better.
So, here are my top picks for wine bottle tote bags (and, if you're bringing wine to a holiday party? these bags would make a fun gift too)

These Brunello bags from PicnicTrip.com come in a variety of great colors...  plus, they insulate!
(perfect for that Chardonnay!)

Bring It In A Bag has some great options
(single bags and double bags)

solid colors and stripes

this Fishnet Tote from the MOMA store holds a 750 ml bottle but will expand to 1 liter. Nice.

A cute little bag made of padded burlap with a ticking stripe handle!  It looks like a clutch!

This faux leather "Magnum Milano" tote carries two bottles!
(and I like the white stitching)

I love this Philly tote from MapTote!  Represent your city!

(they also make totes for Los Angeles, Brooklyn, Napa Valley, Manhattan, and Tuscany)

I think the Brunello bag (in pink? or black?) might be the best choice for me.  But, the sarcastic bags from Saucy Sacks would be great for giving holiday gifts this season, wouldn't they?
